Information About GPU
About GPU
The short name GPU stands for "Global Photographic Union" in English, and we can define it as "Küresel Fotoğraf Birliği" in Turkish.
While defining itself, GPU primarily states that this union is not a structure related to the "association/club" or federation structure in which photographers regularly participate in their countries or cities.
GPU was created for individual photographers who want to take part in a real international organization where the art of photography allows and encourages cultural exchange.

What are GPU titles and how to get them?
GPU gives three types of titles for your individual achievements.
The first of these is the "Crown" titles, which we will translate as "Taç" in Turkish. These titles are determined by the points obtained from exhibitions and awards that the photographer collects from international competitions. You can find detailed information about this title group, which has five levels, at https://www.gpuphoto.com/apply-for-distinction.
The second type of GPU title is "VIP -Very Important Photos", which, unlike the Crown system, is not automatically awarded. This title, which has five degrees, is applied for on the basis of your first place, gold medal, best photo awards in international competitions. You can find detailed information at https://www.gpuphoto.com/apply-for-vip-distinction.
The third type of GPU title is the "APRODITE, HERMES and ZEUS" titles, which are awarded in order if your portfolio application on 10 different subjects is accepted. You can find detailed information on this subject at https://www.gpuphoto.com/apply-for-title-distinction.
How to get GPU support for the contest?
The GPU, of which many photographers around the world are members, awards "support numbers" and "medals" to international photography competitions. Since this support number is important for GPU title applications, many participants check whether the competition has GPU support. After determining the English rules of the contest you want to organize, click on the link https://www.gpuphoto.com/salons-with-gpu-license/apply-for-a-gpu-license for GPU approval and fill in the information step by step. Here you can request medals for a fee depending on the number of categories of your competition. After the information is checked and approved, the system will direct you to the payment plan. After your competition is approved, it will be published in the GPU Approved Competition list, which is regularly notified to GPU members.
