About GPU
The short name GPU stands for "Global Photographic Union" in English, which can be defined in Turkish as "Küresel Fotoğraf Birliği."
In describing itself, GPU first states that this union is not a structure related to the "association/club" or federation structures that photographers regularly take part in within their own countries or cities.
GPU was created for individual photographers who want to take part in a genuine international organization in which the art of photography allows and encourages cultural exchange.

What are the GPU titles, and how are they obtained?
GPU awards three types of titles for your individual achievements.
The first of these are the "Crown" titles (which we would translate into Turkish as "Taç"). These titles are determined by the points a photographer accumulates from exhibitions and awards obtained in international competitions. The second type of GPU title is "VIP - Very Important Photos"; unlike the Crown system, this title is not awarded automatically. This title, which has five degrees, is applied for on the basis of first-place, gold-medal and best-photo awards obtained in international competitions. The third type of GPU title consists of the "APHRODITE, HERMES and ZEUS" titles, awarded in sequence if your portfolio application across 10 different subjects is accepted. Detailed information on this is available at https://www.gpuphoto.com/apply-for-title-distinction.
How can I get GPU support for a competition?
GPU, whose members include a large number of photographers worldwide, grants "support numbers" and "medals" to international photography competitions. Since this support number matters for GPU title applications, many participants check whether a competition has GPU support. After finalizing the English rules of the competition you wish to organize, click https://www.gpuphoto.com/salons-with-gpu-license/apply-for-a-gpu-license for GPU approval and fill in the information step by step. Here you may request medals, for a fee, depending on the number of categories in your competition. Once the information has been checked and approved, the system will direct you to the payment plan. Once your competition is approved, it is published in the GPU Approved Competition list that is regularly circulated to GPU members.
